+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Question 1. Hello how are you all and what are you all called? Answer 1. Ahoy! we are called (in order of appearance on this earth) daniel lazenby, christopher holloway, liam o'connor and fergal mc bride and at the time of this interview we are all well (as far as we know). Question 2. So far you have recorded 2 eps and given them away for free. This is extremely generous given their quality, have you considered charging people for them? Answer 2. thinly veiled compliments will get you everywhere! actually we wanted to give them away as we figured nobody in their right mind would pay for them. They were all hand made and are now all gone, twas a labour of love! I think in the end we pulled together £50 for the disks and card covers and set about cutting and stamping long into the early hours. no money was spent on the actual recordings, we used only what we could beg, borrow or steal. for instance we were short on mic stands for the drum kit so using our MacGyver skills and a dear friends shoe we managed to wedge a mic in position. A few of the eps ended up on sebon.co.uk and in spillers (we had to put prices on them or they wouldn't stock them). We've also made a mix of the ep's which we've been taking to gigs in little sweetie bags with pin badges. we sold a couple (literally a couple) at our last few gigs for the bargain bin price of £1.50 but at this stage we're just happy to get the music out there and giving it away seems the most sensible way to do that. We're considering doing the same thing again with our next set of recordings... unless of course a sensible and shrewd record label gives us a helping hand! Question 3. What/who influences your music, if anyone or anything does? we want the fact that we've expanded from a 2 piece to a 4 piece to influence our new material (recording of which commences this weekend!). upon listening to our songs a casual listener was once heard to remark that they weren't sure if they should "dance or cry". we like to think of that as a compliment (whether is was meant as one or not) and have taken that very conundrum to the heart of our work. Question 4. I heard you practice in an art studio and you sometimes record in a caravan. Is this true? Answer 4. Obviously we've got a spy in our midst and until we discover who it is we refuse to give any credence to these allegations. (but yeah that's pretty much true) Question 5. I've never been abroad, who out of the band has been the furthest away from Wales? Answer 5. the furthest point from wales that one can go is called its antipodal point and must be distant from wales by 180 degrees longitude and as far south of the equator as wales is north. essentially this corresponds to a wales sized patch of ocean in the pacific and we all holiday there together about twice a year. it's wet but that's how we like it. --------------------------------------------------------------- |
